Owing to lockdown due to Covid 19 in Sikkim, tourism industry has been effected especially adventure tourism and mountaineering in Sikkim which is a major source of local economy generation through mountaineering has seen no expeditions in the year 2020.

The Ministry of External Affairs Government of India has announced in the official notification that, new peaks are opened for mountaineering in Sikkim, this was done so in order to boost the adventure tourism in the Country.

Sikkim being a Himalayan State of India has many unclimbed peaks and some of them are of 7000 mtrs. which are challenging for mountaineering and very ideal for pre Everest Expeditions. The permits to climb these pears are regulated by MHA Government of India in coordination with State Government and handled by the adventure travel agency in Sikkim.

Yak and Yeti as adventure tour operator in Sikkim organise the formalities of obtaining permits and liaison with the respective Government authorities for necessary documentation to get the climbing permission to these peaks in Sikkim.
